Long trails in the east

I was wondering about how many long trails are in the east other than the biggies - the AT, Mountains to Sea Trail, North Country Trail, Florida Trail, Buckeye Trail. Not the Ice Age Trail, either, or any Heritage Trails or . . . you know.

Bike/hike trails are okay, and the list below includes a few of them.

Here’s the list I’ve compiled so far:

Benton Mackeye Trail
Ouachita Trail
Long Trail
Cohos Trail
International Appalachian Trail
Allegehny Trail

Generally, a list of trails that would take at least a good week to finish - and not stuff like the Virginia Creeper Trail or the Grafton Loop Trail (in Maine).

I guess the Ouachia Trail isn’t exactly in the east, but if there are ones like it in the vicinity, please feel free to list them, too.

Have at it:

The “Misc” category is probably helpful.

In Pa. there is the Susquehanick trail, Laurel highlands trail, Black forest trail (only 42 miles but a great hike). The Susquehanick and black forest do not get much use and are very scenic with good fishing at most campsites. There are others in Pa. but Ive only done these.

The finger lakes trail is another one. Its around 550 miles. I hiked the susquhanna trail that roadrummer mentioned. that is an awsome trail (80+ miles total i think).

there’s plenty of fairly long distance trails in PA and NY, but here’s a few that i have either hiked on or know about. the finger lakes trail, the northville-lake placid trail and numerous trails in the adirondacks and catskill mts of NY and in Pa there’s plenty others such as the chuck keiper, loyalsock, quehanna, mid-state, tuscarora, donut hole, and so on. you could spend weeks on end in the adirondacks alone, but the northville-lake placid trail is a great trail to hike on since it would take anywhere from 6-9 days to hike. there’s a website for it,but i don’t have it for ya now. happy trails…

I’ve done the Northville-Lake placid trail three time.I enjoy the trail and never push.I average about 10 miles per day and take about two weeks to do the trail. The NP trail is essentially a valley trail with the highest point at a little over 3000’.The north half follows the Cold river for many miles, passes along Long Lake and many ponds and streams.
To get maps and a guide book contact the Adirondack Mountain Club at WWW.ADK.org.
Warning:Do not leave a car parked at the Lake Placid N-P trail head, two years ago my friends car was broken into and window smashed. The trail head is isolated. You can leave a car at the Southern end at Upper Benson at a private house for a few bucks.
Happy trails :cheers

If you’re looking for a week plus - a few in our area include Tuscarora, MidState, Link, Donut Hole, Quehanna, C&O Canal, Susquehannock, Horseshoe, Laurel Highlands, Finger Lakes, etc. The ALDHA website may have their list of long trails. The Keystone Trails Assn. site has a list of long trails in PA - there are over 3000 miles just within that state, though their definition of a long trail includes some that are not all that long. There are several rail-trails too, but I don’t know them.

I hike the Susquehannock Trail System in June (mentioned a couple times above). My journal is here under my trailname, bc, - although the journal probably doesn’t belong here since it’s so short of a trail. It was a fantastic adventure for me. Next June I’m combining the Susquehannock and Black Forest Trails via the South Link Trail for a 138 mile double loop where you end up where you started which is great for logistics.
Happy hiking!
