I am looking for a partner to do a thru-hike with starting the middle of March 2004. I would also like to look into groups that wouldn’t mind adding another person. I do not want to do it alone so wanted to see if anyone knew of someone else who also may be looking. Thanks

Hey Heather.
I’m leaving in early March. I have someone to start with, but I’ve never met him. We met here on trail forums. E-mail me and it shouldn’t be a problem for you to join up with us. You’re going to run into lots of people to hike with on the trail, anyway, so you won’t really be “alone” but i understand what you mean.
If you’re close by, maybe we could get together for some practice hikes? Send me a note!

Yeah…only 196 days until my first white blaze. I also will be starting in '04 with a buddy of mine. March 1st is our tentative starting date, so we’ll possibly meet you at some point, especially if you’re starting in early march. Where are you guys from? Err…or…girls…or umm…guy and girl? Ok…where are you hikers from…is that better?

Heather- I too am looking for a partner to start in March 04…I don’t have everything totally finalized yet as I am in grad school and work full-time as well, but am working on the logistics. Send me an e-mail if you want to discuss the possibility of hiking together. I am obsessed with attempting the AT but I don’t feel like doing it alone either.:girl

Are you doing the Approach Trail? And if so, are you starting that on March 1st…or starting that on Feb 29 to be at the trail for March 1st? Just curious. I think my buddy and I will be doing the latter. For one thing, Feb 29 is a Sunday and I’m able to get a ride that morning from friend of mine that lives in Atlanta. Either way, i’m sure to meet you on the trail if we’re that close. See you in about 195 days! (That’s right…i’m actually counting down from this far away.)

I think there is a rather large group that is preparing to start on or about March 1st. Since that falls on a Monday, The weekend prior, Feb 28-29th, is also popular. I know of a few planning 2/29 starts, myself included.
