I just got done with my first experience of hiking on the AT. My mother and I did an 80 Mile section through shanendoah nat’l park, and I got the bug. I plan on leaving from springer mtn on or around march 17 of next year. All of my friends will still be in school or already have jobs, so If you are interested or know someone that may be…let me know.

I’m planning on Thur hiking next year, “07” I am leaving late Feb or March 1st,
(if all goes well).
I hike 15 to 20 miles a day, is that doable for you ?
I would be happy to hike with you, but please keep in mind you will make friends out there on the trail.
It is good to hike on your own, because you can hike at your own pace. I hiked most of the AT by myself, and thought it was great meeting everyone and find out why they were hiking the trail etc…
I will complete the AT this year, but loved it so much I am ready to thur hike in 07.

Shoot me an e-mail if you are interested, I am leaving for the trail May 27th of this year to finish, I will check e-mail up until 5/24/06, I will not be checking e-mail after 5/24/06, until I get back.

Hey Hippie, I’m leaving on March 17th or maybe a couple of days before. They are a couple more leaving with me at the same time and you’re welcome also. As was said in the above post there will be a lot of people on the trail then and it will be easy to partner up with someone. Those that are leaving with me might not hike with me long because I don’t know if our hiking paces are close to the same. I’m just going to hike the pace thats comfortable for me and partner up with someone if it works out and if not that will be okay. But like I said you’re more than welcome to start with us. I’ll probably take it kind of easy the first week ( not real fast). I live in Georgia ( close to the trail) and have hiked the Georgia section many times. You can email me if you’d like to.

Hey hey! I’ll be starting around mid march as well. I would like to know what some of your thoughts are on a female hiking alone. I have no problems with it, and I know there’s tons of other people thru hiking. I’ll probable see ya’ll at springer in '07!

I am a woman who started alone. You don’t have to hike alone, b/c you’ll meet people. But you can & it’s safe (according to me). You want to meet up w/ people to share rooms/rides & have them watch your stuff in town, etc.
