Looking for wider boots

To All:–I’m looking for hiking boots/shoes/sneakers which tend to run wide. Currently, I’m a 10EE, and reliably so in running shoes, walking shoes, and regular shoes. But, the 10EE hiking boots I’ve tried all seem to be unusually narrow (eg, New Balance, Danner–both of which I’ve since learned tend to run narrow generally). So, please, tell me, which brands tend to run wide?

Thanks.

Sincerely–Paul English.

They come in wides but I’m not sure about EE. L.L.Bean also has wide sizes and several models to choose from.

I also have a wide foot. I use Merrills or Montrail. Nike used to make a great wide GoreTex Trail runner but I have not tried the new model.

try Limmer, They sell a non-custom but and you can order them. They send you a sizing kit, when they get your measurements they send you the boot you need. I had a friend order a pair of the mid-weight boots and he was very happy.

I have a pair of Vasque Sundowners and they have a very wide toebox even in the medium width. The only problem I’ve had is the goretex liner has pulled away from the inside of the boot after only 7 months. Rock Creek Outfitters is where I bought them and all they’ll do is send them to Vasque and let them determine if they are defective or not and leave it up to them to either repair or replace them. I’ll be dropping them off at Rock Creek tommorrow to have them sent off and se what happens…

Both my husband and I have very wide feet, especially after several long hikes. We used to wear Vasques (which have variable footbeds) and Raichles (which are naturally wide) but for the past 4 years have been using Lowa Tempests, exclusively. You have to buy a larger size than you would expect, but they are very comfortable on our duck feet.

I have very wide feet and found that the only boots I could find along the trail to fit me were HiTecs in the extra wide fitting. If you have wide feet I suggest you buy all of the boots you need before starting out for a thru-hike as you may have trouble getting wide boots along the trail.
BTW… the Hitecs were terrific, low cost and very comfortable.

<a href="http://www.dunhambootmakers.com>Dunham Bootmakers is the best maker I’ve found. They make lots of different models in extra-wide widths (EE up to EEEEEE). I’m a 13-EEEE and love them. Dunham’s a sister company to New Balance, so if you have tried NB’s and know what size you take with them, you’re set.

Oops, somehow that doesn’t look right.

What I was trying to say is that I use (and recommend!) Dunham boots for wide footsies. I’ve got 13-EEEE feet and have lots of options (Dunham makes dozens of models, with wide sizes EE-EEEEEE). Dunham’s a New Balance sister company, so if you’re a NB fan, you’re in luck!
