I heard a few words about an old abandoned town in the middle of no where between Hot Springs and Eriwin. Not many people know where it is but have heard of it. Does anyone know where it is at. I hear it is about a 3 mile walk off trail. And there is no road to it. I heard it is just a bunch of old buildings. Well if anyone knows anything, tell me.

This is from and old AT Guidebook: “The small completely isolated mountain community of Lost Cove, NC is located about 4 m. southeast from Unaka Springs. The Community had until recently a small number of permanant residents, for whom, after the discontinuance of railroad passenger service, the only mode of travel in and out of the area was by foot or horseback. (The Lost Cove area is private property and is posted.)”
This is seventies information. The section is from Spivey Gap to the Nolichucky River. You can find a topo for it by logging onto Topozone.com and looking up Lost Cove, NC (it is in Yancey County, NC). I was going to go here one time but the weather and the posted land stopped me. I don’t know the current status of the property, posted or not. If you find out or go there, let us know.
