Low Temps Expected

I am planning on a thru-hike at Waterton starting 2nd or 3rd week in June and ending in 5 weeks or so. Start date will vary some with snow depth. What can I expect for a low temp at nights? Am going to take a hammock and need to plan for bottom insulation.

I suspect you’ll hover at or below freezing on a few occassions as you get higher up. In '05, I certainly awoke to find frozen ground and ponds a few times. On most nights though, I’d say plan on high 30’s/low 40’s.

Expect it to be cold at night and early morning. Maybe we will see you out there. We start June 18th. It needs to stop snowing, but Colorado does need the water.

I think I’m good. Was toasty at 35 this winter and have more layers (silk liner and a poncho undercover) to add some more.

Wyotex, hope to see you out there. My start time isn’t as firm but have to be off the trail the first week of August.
