LT 4000-footers

I’m doing some grass-roots planning on the New England 4000-footers. I have been unable to confirm whether or not Mt Mansfield, The Camel’s Hump, Mt Abraham (VT), and Mt Ellen are on the Long Trail or at least short hikes off from the Long Trail. (I am assuming that they are)

I’m planning to hike the LT and wondering if that will include the bagging of those 4 summits.

Thanks for helping this flat-land Yankee.

Yes, all four mounts you mention are directly on the LT. It also passes over Killington (4235 ft) on the southern part.

The summit of Killington is actually at short distance from the LT.

Aaaah, killington is actually right on the trail, i climbed over it 2 yrs ago on my thrue hike, the actuall summit is on a side trail that takes you maybe a 1/4 mile off the trail but then you have to return to the same spot to continue.

Happy trails.

Hey Fourmi! Are you back out on the trail this summer?

Hi CB,

Just did the trail. Drove from Michigan, Detroit area. Headed over bridge from Sarnia. Went across Canada to Niagra Falls. Then headed across New York on toll road (I-90) to Williamstown. Parked my car at Williams Inn (2 bucks a day) got a drive to the Pine Cobble Trail Head on county bus (1 dollar). When I was done got a ride from Journey’s end to Montpellier (Hitched from North Troy). Took Greyhound back to Williams Inn (take the 8:15 a.m. bus, got in at 3 pm that day.) cost was $72 bucks.

Took me 8.5 hours to get out there from Michigan, same amount to get back home.

Idhiker,
Thanks for posting this information. I’m in Ohio and plan to hike some of the Trail this September, starting around the 15th, heading south.
