Lunch ideas - Appalachian Trail

Any good ideas for lunches on the trail? I am looking at simple stuff to put in my maildrops. When I resupply in towns (which will be most of the time) I plan on playing it by ear or tummy more like it. If I want 2 snickers for lunch everyday then I will do that. But since I am going to put together a few weeks worth of drops I figure I should get something nutritious. For my lunchs I am looking for about 1000 calories. From what I have heard:

“for lunch you take peanut butter and put it on something and then you eat it…”

Is that pretty much the case?

Thanks in advance…

Dude, you just answered your own question. Only the tummy will tell. Most mail drop stuff is on the dinner and bulk list. Lunches you can get in town unless you like dehydrated hummus…which is tasty, just add water but I don’t know where to get it. A huge bagel with pepperoni and cheddar is awesome, PB+J on a bagel, flavored tuna on a bagel, bagel on a bagel. We grab a bag of those small carrots, some PWR bars, a brick of bagel, some hard cheeze, in cold weather some lunch meat. If you hit a deli you’re in the gold mine. Some sour dough baggets, like six of 'um, a pound of roast beef, again a cold weather thing, some cheeze, num num. Gorp from home but you can make it in seconds and vary the taste town to town. Cashews, peanuts, M’s, raisens, cranberries what ever. Snack-Pack size tuna salads are cool. Fajita wraps and anything you can fill them with. Cold weather Bucket from KFC, fat grease and chicken.
