Mail Confusion Snosqualmie

My son called yesterday from Skykomie, WA, and said the package we sent to Snowsqualmie (about two weeks ago) had not yet arrived at the lodge. (He had called the lodge in Snoqualmie while he was still in Skykomie). Then he called me to ask if I had mailed it UPS (which I hadn’t because I had only the label he had left for me to adhere to the package and there were no further instructions about how to mail it, so I mailed it through the post office like other packages I have sent to other towns along the PCT).

Doesn’t Snowqualmie have a post office? If not, where would the package I mailed to my son (which included his water filters and other necessary stuff) have gone? If there IS a post office, then how far is it from the Summit Inn where I did try to send the package?

Thanks for any help

In the above message, I notice I spelled everything wrong - - gees. Skykomish is what I meant for where he called from. Snoqualmie is where I mailed the package via U. S. Post (not UPS which I guess I should have).

Okay, I think we semi-solved our own problem, after talking to a man in India of all things, through Best Western, who sent us via phone number to the wrong hotel in Washington, plus many web pages leading to nowhere. Finally through the operator we found the right hotel number – a very helpful woman there explained that if you send to the box number it will get to the hotel fine. If you send to the address, you have to send UPS because the post office doesn’t send to addresses. Since the box has not been returned (it’s been gone 20 days), she is hoping it may still be in one of three places – the Inn across the road (which has a similar name) , the gas station that takes in the mail, or another town altogether.

Guess I talked my way through this one, but if it helps anyone else, the advice is don’t send by U.S. Mail to the actual address of the hotel or it won’t get there. Also on our son’s list the hotel is called The Summit Inn, but it’s really the Summit Lodge. I don’t know where he got that list to print out – of addresses to send packages – but that one didn’t tell the full story of sending only by UPS if you use the street address for the Summit Lodge.
