Mail Drops - The Long Trail - Vermont

I’m planning a SOBO thru hike in May. I’m wondering where are good (accessible) locations for mail drops. I’m looking to make about 4 - 5 drops carrying about 4-5 days of food at a clip. any help is appreciated.

I hiked NOBO, but my drops were (in order for a SOBO) Johnson, Jonesville, Inn at the Long Trail, and Manchester Center. The Jonesville PO is very friendly and right by tthe LT. The others were easy hitches and I found they were spaced well for my pace-about every 4-5ish days.

My main advice start after May 25, or skip it. The trails close for Mud Season and re-open May 26 at the earliest.

Peanut’s mail drop list looks solid. If I did the LT again I’d stick to Jonesville and the Inn for mail drops and hitch out to resupply. The downside of mail drops is you lose flexibility, you have to arrive when the PO is open (here the Inn has a big advantage) and you can’t just skip an exit point and pick up your mail drop 30 miles later.
Of course, if you aren’t going to be happy with what you might find at local stores, mail drops are a must.
