Maildrop near Katahdin

It appears that White House Landing in the 100 mile is the last place were a mail drop can be sent. I am hoping to get a drop with some goodies to take up the hill in a couple of weeks but I don’t want to carry them all the way from WHL. Any thoughts besides having someone meet me up there.

THanks,

It not uncommon for thru hikers to go to Millinocket before climbing Katahdin. You can try catching a ride from someone exiting the park, all roads lead to Millinocket. I’ve also seen hikers hitching rides from Abol Bridge to town before entering Baxter State Park.

Camel!!! I wondered if i’d here from you again (you gave me my trailname at Rainbow Springs). Well done!! Sounds like you’re pretty close to finishing. I’m in Maine right now, I’ll be visiting Katahdin in a few weeks, drop me an email via this post and we’ll sort something out.

Good luck on finishing the AT. WHL would be your best bet. You should be low on supplies by the time you reach this area It was not there when I hiked the 100 mile. There is not much at Abol Bridge what there is, is costly.

Be careful crossing all the streams.

You need to get that maildrop into the mail asap if it’s going to WHL, they don’t get into town on a regular basis. You can get short term resupply at Abol Bridge that’ll last you a few days in Baxter, and make sure you pick uo a few of the fresh subs from Linda’s store to take into the Park - they’re great!
