Manchester Center to North Adams?

I am doing a short section hike nobo from North Adams to Manchester Center in VT, and was wondering about the best way to get back to my car which will be parked in North Adams. I know hitching is a possibility, but I would rather not since its a good bit of distance. Any suggestions would be def. appreciated.

Check out www.peterpan.com. They have a few bus fares for a one-way trip from Manchester to North Adams.

However, hitching would save you $$, and it doesn’t seem like it would be a difficult hitch. The road trip would be about 45 miles. If you start out in Manchester Center, you’d have to travel down 7-A until you get to Bennington. From there, you travel down US 7 until you hit Rt. 2 (Williamstown). Then you have about 6 miles heading east until you hit North Adams.

However, it is a pain in the BUTT (usually) to get a hitch out of Williamstown. Something to keep in mind in case you do decide to hitch.

When will you be needing a ride? I live in Bennington and would consider picking you up in Manchester and leaving you off at your car in North Adams, if it fits into my schedule. I frequently shuttle hikers to/from the Route 9 crossover and also provide sleeping quarters, etc for hikers coming into Bennington. Let me know what you need and I’ll try to accomodate.
