Mass hiking trails

I am moving from FL to MA in a few days. Good bye sunshine, hello snow! I was wondering if anyone could suggest a section of the AT or other trails around the area, anything as short as a day to as long as a long weekend.

You’re in for a wonderful treat: living in New England! I’m a Yankee now living in the south, I miss New England.
For hiking, and much more, log onto this site for lots of info. www.amcoutdoors.org

hope this helps,

I sometimes go to the trail conditions section of this website and see where other people went.

On the AMCoutdoors site, click on “Chapter Trips and Activities” and search under Mass.

Search through the Destinations: Northeast section of forums.backpacker.com

I’d suggest that you buy the AMC’s guide for Massachusetts hiking trails. It includes the whole state. There are many more places to hike in addition to the AT in far western Mass.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve done some looking on line and found a few prospects. Does anyone have any favorites?

Always grateful!

Check out gorp.com. I got a good hike off of it on the AT in the extreme soutwest corner of the state. It’s just 7.5 miles but it’s pretty nice. The directions on the website are pretty good. It’s the walk over Mt. Everett.
