Average low for Blairsville GA is 49 degrees. Colder in the mountains, and certainly, you need to be prepared for the average. I recall a heavy frost a few days before Memorial Day last year that killed gardens in the valleys of Tennassee.

This Particular May seems to be starting off bad. I just watch CNN and it looks like those storms have been crossing right over the AT. On my 2000 hike Memorila day weekend The temp was 39 deegrees one night, This was in VA up at the Priest at 4000 feet.

I would expect temps in the 40s to Low 50s. Lately it has been warmer with the thunder storms rolling threw the area. Also remember that the averages are reported for the valleys which you don’t see much of in GA. If this system continues expect a lot of rain and bad storms.

AYCE from thru-hiker.com has constructed a database that many of you may find helpful in determining temps for different regions and different times of the year on the AT:

If summer temps in GA are in the 90’s, what kind of temps would I see high-up on the AT in GA on a July section hike?
Are the temps comparable to the Smokies - not getting higher than the 60’s all summer?
Thanks,
Jim
