Maybe the bears think

…that since we call them “bear cans,” they must be for bears to take.

I’ve read quite a few accounts of whole bear cans taken, doused, disappeared, etc. Does anyone have tips on avoiding this? When i’ve used mine in Olympic NP, i’ve just tossed it someplace and not given it a 2nd thought. Now i’m worrying.

I put mine away from my tent and in a depression of some sort. Then, if it is batted around it won’t be too far away to find. My canister has been slimed (noses) but not hard to find. Sometimes I ring it with rocks, again just to keep it from rolling too far.
I want the canister at Concord REI that was gnawed on by a bear…imperssive!
