What is the fastest way to get to McAfee Knob via the AT? I want to spend the day on the overhang and was wondering the easiest way to get to it…thank you very much.

A parking lot on VA 311 atop Catawba Mt will lead you to McAfee Knob.
It is a 3.5 mile hike from the parking lot to the Knob and I recommend that you go sometime during the week to avoid the weekend crowds.:cheers

maybe not the best place to park a car if you can find a ride, though. but said to be the best sunrise on the whole Trail if you can get up there early enough.

It was an awesome place for a sunrise, and you’re talking to someone who rarely sees them ANYwhere! I won’t reveal how I managed to capture this on my hike…ssshhh…
