because of work i will not be able to attend the ADZPCTKO and am expecting an early may start around the 7th for my thru hike. i ve read and heard about all the info that is presented that weekend regarding water caches, alternative routes, etc. and was wondering if there is anyway to get some of that info without being there.

The ADZPCTKO will surely have plenty of helpful info.
But don’t be intimidated if you’re not there. If you have the guidebooks, you’ll be okey dokey. As a matter of fact you’ll look back and say, “I worried waaaay too much.”
You’re not relying on water caches are you? You shouldn’t be. Plan your hike around them; caches are irrelevant. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to not rely on them.
With the exception of the guidebooks, don’t buy into the hype that you need this book or that. People definitely play on YOUR fear to sell you THEIR crap. You see it on this forum everyday.
Plan, be prepared. All is well!

despite what anon says, I must tell you that the single most consice source of water cache information and alternate routes is found in Yogi’s PCT handbook.
I don’t know what anon meant about using fear, but there is none of that going on with Yogi’s book. Trust me, it’s what you need. I’ve used the first edition, and there was lots of information the horse-trail PCTA books don’t mention.
Yogi’s book is for hikers, not horses.

I’ve got it!! Now i remember where i met Meadow Ed, and who he is. If this is the same guy, I met him at Bob’s place in Skykomish in 2002, I recall that he’s hiker/trailangel. At last, it’s been bugging me for days.
