Is it even possible for someone to meet me on the AT somewhere in TN? I have a buddy that would like to meet me on the trail and do a few hundered miles with me. Thank you in advance to the replies.

Of course its possible. The AT crosses roads several times a day where it could be possible to meet plus there are several large towns where you will be going to resupply where you could arrange a meeting.

How about meeting in Erwin? The trail runs right by it so the logistics involved should be easy.

As Big B said there are many places your friend could meet you at along the AT. Your location depends on when the friend get away to meet you. Keep in mind that by the time you are in Tennessee your trail legs and your lung capacity will be so improved that a new hiker will have trouble keeping up with you. Slow down and allow the friend to get used to hiking.
As Blue mentioned Erwin is a convenient place to hook up that is right on an interstate highway between Asheville, NC and Bristol/ Johnson City, TN. Use your guide book (ALDHA Companion or AT Guide) to find a town that will work for you.
