"Mini PCT hike"?

Yearning for a thru hike but can’t fit the entire hike in your summer vacation?

Idaho Centennial Trail might be the answer for you. It has all the elements of a PCT hike: The trail starts on the desert but just 100 miles rather than 800. Then it enters the spectacular Sawtooth mtns with lakes and tarns. Bird and animal sightings are abundant on the entire route. The final leg is in N ID’s rain forest which is the equivalent of WA’s terrain and climate. The 800 plus mile trek fits into a two month span and you can enjoy a varied hiking experience.
Enjoy!

I hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail a couple of years ago. Only 200 miles yet it’s got the high Sierra on the west, dry Nevada on the east, several easy resupply possibilities, killer view of Lake Tahoe almost every day, and it’s a loop trail so you start and end your hike at your car. Only downside was mountain bikes in the non-wilderness areas.

Best view was of South Lake Tahoe (the city) at night. Looked like a giant space ship.
