How does anyone get banned from a forum other than inappropriate vocabulary? If anyone knows please post a list.

Trolling is often the art of manipulating part of your audience into believing you’re being sincere, or of turning the forum membership against its own. Use of inappropriate vocabulary is merely flaming, and tends to be much less interesting to the hardcore forum stalker.

Yes, he’s banned. And what does the popularity of the thread on his hike have to do with anything? The guy is a walking train wreck who regularly disparages the AT and the volunteers that help maintain it. I don’t always agree with the decisions made by Admin over at WB, but in this case, they got it right. If you don’t like the decision, maybe you should start a web page celebrating that moron.

Can’t we all just get along-thru-hike? I was making fun of the AT9 in Tenn that justs goes strait up & over every hillock in site (Tenn. looney binn) in the register… which on my thru bike south, I found out some other hikers took extreme exception to. I thought it was all good comedy fun, but was perceived otherwise perhaps. Author Bill Bryson sure gets away with alot of cynical criticism of other people, which I take extreme exception to. Perhaps we don’t always know the strength or effect of our own words.
