he was in monson, maine yesterday. he had to skip from kent, ct. to hanover, n.h. to make it to katahdin on time. as soon as he bags the big k he’ll go to hanover and hike to kent.
wolf
He’s in striking distance of making it by Oct 15. If he does, President Bush will try to meet him at K and hike part of the way up with him. Expect the usual media circus.

I understand the President no longer hikes or runs because of knee trouble. I’ve heard that he plans to ride his mountain bike down Katahdin. :happy

As of last night, Minnesota was 41 miles from Abol Bridge and expects to mount K on the 14th. After K, he will return to Hanover to begin hiking south to Kent, to cover the section he flopped in order to do K before October 15.

Is he still carrying a 70 lb pack? One of the reasons everyone remembers him is for his trademark 70 lb pack.
Old Goat
He’s at Abol Bridge this evening and will mount K tomorrow. President Bush has a chopper on standby and will be there by 09:45 EDT.

I’d say most people remember Minnesota for his views on women and dogs, not just his 70 lbs pack and raingear on 100-degree sweltering days. I, however, have fond memories of him suggesting with all sincerity that I get my thyroid tested or check for cysts on my ovaries! Haha. Congrats on his completion of the AT.
