Molas lake CG resupply

Hello all,

I’ve heard that the Molas Lake campground (sorta near silverton) will take maildrops. And I’ve been trying to call them to verify this and to also get an address(zip code) to mail the package to. However, all I get is an answering machine.

Does anyone know for sure whether or not they take maildrops and, if so, what the campground’s address is?

Thanks

Robert

p.s. anybody heading out on the trail anytime soon?

My got a hold of someone and was told directly they will take maildrops. As you can make reservations, sure you can get a real person with one of the two numbers. Suspect the 970 number would be better.

Dirty Bird, Skittles and Mule are about to head out. Meeting them for dinner tonight.

Robert,

La Zorra, a new friend I recently met online, and I are doing the section of the CT from the Molas Lake TH to Durango, probably hitting the trail on July 23rd. Probably not soon enough to run into you but maybe. After Durango we might likely be doing Cumbres Pass to Wolf Creek Pass.

Ken and Cindy, PCT 02, might be doing the CP to WCP section too.

Hi Mags!

Minor correction to Mags’ post - Dirty Bird, Skittles, and Skeemer are heading out. Skeemer and Dirty Bird left this morning for the trail, I’m going to hop on a little up the trail from Waterton Canyon on Saturday and hopefully meet up with them. Mags - thanks for the awesome dinner idea, really enjoyed the food and conversation! Off to get packed up…

I love this community…

Yes… Skittles, DB and SKEEMER (Why did I say mule?) had a lovely dinner in Boulder last night. Mmm…Sherpa’s good.

GOTTAGO: Hi!!! You’ll love the stretch between Silverton and Durango! Very nice! My pic site is currently down…other wise I’d pst the link. Saw Ken and Cindy on the CT/CDT last year. Funny how you meet the same people on these trails!

The small world keeps getting smaller . . . . .

I hiked the AT in 1999. Went back for Trail Days in 2000. After Trail Days as I was heading back to the airport, I stopped in Atkins VA to see if there were any hikers there who needed a ride. I found Ken, Cindy, their dog Buster, and another hiker. Drove them up to Glasgow VA, which was where they had left the trail to attend Trail Days.

SO . . . . in 2002 on the PCT, guess who I run into at Kennedy Meadows? Ken, Cindy, Buster, and either Ken’s or Cindy’s parents. Ken & Cindy were hiking, the parents came to KM with two RV’s and hosted one of my most memorable trail magic feasts. It was a perfect send-off for the Sierra!

Hello All,

Picked Skeemer and Dirty Bird up at 6:45 this AM at Mineral Station. What a terrific duo. We had a hiker breakfast, and I delivered them to the trailhead at 9AM. They are on their way, and I look forward to joining them in Buena for Sections 12 - 15, if my schedule works out. Mags, sounds like they had a great time with you last few days. What excited thru-hikers - they both have a passion for long trails. I could have asked 10 more hours of questions about the AT of both of them, but had to get back to work. Later…TrailGuy

John Calhoun (Mother Nature’s Son - PCT 03) and Don Davidson of Don and Leslie (PCT 02) will also be hiking sections of the CDT from Cumbres Pass up to Sprink Creek Pass in late July and August. I’m in the process of seeing how we can all hook up.
