Anyone walk to Mono Hot Springs while walking SOBO on the JMT? Looking for info on the best route, amenities, and any other useful info. Was it worth the walk? I was thinking of going to Mono instead of VVR this year.

WE LOVE Mono Hot Springs. We had our honeymoon there in 2004.
Vermilion and MHS are very different. Mono is ringed by natural and semi-improved hot springs. They have a nice spa and rustic cabins. There is a nicely improved forest service campground adjacent to Mono Creek.
There is also a good restaurant and a nice small store for limited re-supply and a post office!
I haven’t been up to either Vermilion or MHS since 2005. The facilities and feel of each location is hard to contrast/compare. I think MHS’s facilities and amenities are nicer than VVR.

Thanks for the info! We’re going to try and walk around Lake Edison, and then walk around Florence lake to hook back up with the JMT at Muir Ranch. Looks like a fun blue blaze.
