Moose - Appalachian Trail

I work in City Hall in the City of Manchester NH. When I was walking into work this morning the police were following a moose down Elm St (the main drag in the city). It made me want to go out hiking for some reason. I had to laugh because I was talking to some SOBOs last weekend who made it into Vermont without seeing any.

They are funny animals. They seem to show up in the most unexpected places sometimes. First one I ever saw was the small bull that crossed my back yard (VT) one morning about 15 years ago. I have seen plenty hikingon the LT and AT (Maine, NH and VT). In most cases, when you come across a pond deep in the woods, a moose will often find that pond early in the AM or late in the afternoon, early evening. Approach quietly and look near the inlets where the reeds are. Sometimes you will catch one browsing in the weeds. I caught a look at a cow and calf two years ago at Gentian Pond, just before dusk. Yes, it does kind of make you feel like getting out there and hiking.

Yeah, beautiful until they start running, then they are all knees and elbows.

Yes it is me Taco, hope your doing well, and I hear your finishing up your hike, or are you done.
Unfortunatley I wont be “you know where”; and yes I am so enjoying it out west, the mountains are bigger (like the moose), I get to run my own kitchen, and cook real food.
My best to all the hikers, and god speed to you all. feel free to e-mail me
