More hikers on the CT

I realize that the first week of July is “prime” start time for a CT thruhike, but there seems to be more hikers on the trail this summer - both thru and section. I sectioned two segments over the 4th, and read several comments in the trail register at the beginning of Section #4 (Rd. 560)reporting that they were so happy to see many more hikers on the CT. This is great news for a great trail. Come on out and enjoy a beautful trail.

I walked the first three miles with “Kip” and “Mr. Magoo” on Tuesday the 3rd, and on my walk back to the car say two more thruhikers - “Hole in the Hat” and Josh. That’s the first time I’ve seen 4 thrus on the Water Board road at one time, and I’ve been here since 1982. Looks like a fine hiker season.

I,m leaving July 21 to drive out from NH and hike for three weeks. I can hardly sit still I’m so psyched to get there. Does anyone know what the water situation is like currently? Has it been a dry year?

I just did the Kenosha to Leadville section. Water is good the whole way. Get some before you top out on Georgia Pass, though. I went about 2 hours dry there.

Should be pretty good from Denver out. There is no snow to speak of. And the wild flowers are amazing! Enjoy!
