Mountainsmith vision?

Getting and testing my final gear for 2004 thru. I had my heart set on Marmot helium sleeping bag but they are out until spring and I can’t find one anywhere. So…any thoughts on mountainsmith vision(15 degree, down, about 2 lbs)?? I have looked at FF and WM bags but don’t like the narrow shoulder girth in most of their 2lbs bags. Any other thoughts??

In my opinion, there’s not a whole lot of difference between various brands of sleeping bags. I don’t think you can go too far wrong with any brand.

The key question is what fits you. Different bags are cut differently. Also, male and female bags may distribute the filling in different places. You need to go try them on for yourself.

Congrats on your 04 hike… The vision is nice, very nice. I would select that or a WM or Marmot bag. Personally, I have a 10* down Moonstone bag I love quite a bit. It’s only 2 lbs 6 oz. Do you have a gear list for your upcoming hike you wanna share?

I am starting then too. As far as a gear list to share, GURU, I am taking items for life sustaining warmth – coat, warm clothing, gloves, and a good bag. But other than that, I have a vision of the most basic type. I am thinking a fire starter kit, some fishing line, and maybe a hat. The rest I can find.

Don’t give up on the helium yet. Marmot ran out of down this past summer, but recently has begun buying again.

In any case, the vision is a good bag too. If you’re a cold sleeper, I’d add a silk liner to either one of them.
