Just started planning my summer vaction:
On the Mt.Princeton resort page, I see a “country store”. Do they sell dehydrated food/grocery and/or fuel?
Thanks

When we went through a couple of years ago they had very little of interest to hikers beyond candybars and soda pop.

Call first; they were OK with us sending a mail drop to them, but it is not that critical as you are only a day or two from Salida.

The store was nothing to write home about. However, the restaurant was an excellent place to get a solid meal. I rolled through Princeton at about 9:30am and had a really nice, filling breakfast.

I agree - the restaurant was killer! You can also pay the a few buck and use the shower house which was nice.

The shop had the usuals. I didn’t notice much in the line of dehydrated foods. They did carry beer which is a perfect treat to pack in and celebrate walking about half the CT if you started at the beginning!

The Country Store is not really geared toward hikers. It’s mostly car-tourist snacks. But, yeah, the restaurant is great!

I published a Colorado Trail Handbook a few months ago. It’s got all the details for resupply. You can find it here:

Have a great hike!

I went to the Hot Springs last year on a hike. When I was there they had gas canisters. If you are not to picky about what you ate you could do a full resupply there fairly easily. They have noodles, sandwhich meet, and other things that backpackers can use. I did not see any dehydrated food though.

I’d still call ahead just to make sure they have what you need in stock.

I thru hiked last year and was so ready for this community. The store, as others have stated is like a tourist 7-11. I grabbed a soda from there and went next door to the restraunt for lunch(very nice establishment). I grabbed a beer from the general store as I headed back to the trail. They do have several different food choices along with maps. There was nothing special about it other than being civilization.
