Yea. I tried hiking naked once and kept tripping over it so now I prefer some support. YMMV

Not to mention that I found that hiking through the Mahoosuc Notch with naked babes to be next to impossible. Even though we were platonic friends.

Two hikers crossed Skyline Drive in SNP on 6/21/96 wearing nothing but backpacks and strategically placed bandannas. Everything seemed okay as they waved and said their hellos to a family of four just arriving at the parking area. But reality soon sunk in as they passed the group, and the scene as the hikers retreated to the woods must have been a dreadful one for the poor family looking on - pale sweaty posteriors sandwiched between large backpacks and knee-length gaiters. Just then park patrol drove by, and the aghast family was last seen attempting to flag down the ranger, presumably because only the disturbed bare buttocks at high noon, and this was, of course, 1996, a year when disturbing events - truly disturbing events - did indeed plague the trail. Ours was but an interlude of levity, though it was probably the wrong call at that particular place and time. At least it seems that way now, ya know… looking back in hindsight.

Oh Pilgrims that doest trek in my honor to the holy places of nature, why hast not … oh bloody hell, who cares if the religious nazis freak out… showest thy nakedness to all my creation for it be loverly!!!

I had to hike for a few days in Vermont on a fall sectional southbound adventure to the DWG with my shorts in my hands due to excessive heat rash between the legs. Only saw a few people on the trail durring this time period and since I was alert to the situation I always managed to either slip the shorts back on or at least cover up in time. The people I passed did not seem to mind. But in full disclosure I did not linger around for conversation.

I was in PA on hike naked day during my thru hike and woke up to 60 some campers wandering down the trail outside duncannon - i warned the others that there were children on the trail - lots - that didn’t stop us - we definatly surprised those kids - not to mention the counselors!

Starting early one morning in VT, I passed a couple of lady hikers and then met a guy wearing only his long dregs. He had swum across a nearby pond, but found the water too cold to swim back, so he hit the trail. He looked like an Aborigine, but I heard no screams from the ladies. Another time in CT I passed a nude hiker taking a break along the trail… I was not tempted to join him for lunch. My opinion of nude hiking…inconsiderate. Assume most people do not want to see you nude.

…my response to the naked hiker i met? : “oh…i see you have no pockets!”…(i did admire the fact that he’d left his boots behind, as well!)
well…in my opinion, a ‘naked heart’ is far more attractive than a naked body!

I’d ordinarily skip the custom, but this year i happened to be hiking to Kalalau (on Kauai), where some people are naked all the time anyway. So i had to try it for 1 mile on a stretch of trail where we hadn’t seen anyone for several hours. Naturally, as soon as the clothes came off, we passed about 20 hikers in 20 minutes. Rather mortifying.
It’s at least interesting seeing the different reactions from people.:rolleyes
