I found a red nalgene with a red cross on it in Maine in Sept.

Hokey Pokey is right on the mark. Every time I pass some item on the trail and leave it there, I really need it the following day. I think my shining example is… once in Southern California on my PCT 04’ thru, I left a needle and about six feet of orange thread I had found back at camp, thinking someone would retrieve it later. The next day I tore a hole in the crotch of my shorts that I could not seem to sew or replace for about 300 miles. I hiked a LONG time in the opressive So. Cal. heat wearing my black fleece leggings and shorts to avoid giving trailing hikers a “show”. TAKE what the Trail Gods give you. You just might need it!

Who honestly gives a crap? Hey, someone lost some used toilet paper on the trail, too…maybe that guy does.
