Pretty sure its a grey wolf spider (female)…they bite but their venin is not that reactive with humans.

Yup, looks like one to me also. I have some dollar size ones in my basement. They’re cool, eat bad bugs, ants, flies, household pests, etc. You can carefully pick them up in your palm. They like to hop when startled and can run like the wind. If bitten you can get a mild rash but not bad unless alergic to bug bites. You can feed them as they are rather aggressive toward food and will take on a prey much larger than them selves.
As a tip out in the woods on the AT; be carefull when sitting on logs and try not to lay out on leave litter. Besides the Wolf the Brown Recluse is a nasty one to meet and will ruin your day and/or hike. link

I happened across one of these fellas, well ladies I guess, a while ago on a hike and managed to take a mugshot. Don’t they have pretty faces?

Agree with Bushwhack and others, it’s a Wolf Spider. See link.

It is definitely not a Black Widow or Recluse Spider.

See you out there.:cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers
