Nameless Mike on CDT

just a note to CDT-watchers that back on July 3rd (i know it was a while ago but i haven’t been home much in July) i picked up Nameless Mike along Going-To-The-Sun road in Glacier National Park and gave him a ride to the CDT at Jackson Glacier. it was his 3rd day on the trail. we had quite a laugh when we realized we were both at the 2003 ADZPCTKO. he knew he was 2 weeks behind schedule but he was confident he would catch the pack. does anybody here know him? he did the AT in '02 and the PCT in '03. it would be nice to find out if he finishes this one.

My wife April and I just finished a 300 mile northbound section hike along the CDT in Montana. In the process, I think we passed most (if not all) CDT southbounders. For those interested, here is a list:

  • Gingerbread Man (flip-flopping)
  • Joe Moon
  • Yogi
  • Goof
  • Dewey
  • Spur
  • Apple Pie
  • Cupcake
  • Otter (followed by a train of pissed-off forest service personnel)
  • DaveAndBecky (240 miles without a resupply???)
  • Rob (finishing up a section missed due to fire)
  • Tim (section-hiking Montana)
  • Nameless Mike (saw him in the Bob, looking good!)

Gingerbread Man said that Brawney and Rainmaker were on the trail as well, but we missed them in Glacier.

i have some online acquaintances who met Brawny & Rainmaker in Glacier. IIRC, their exact quote was, “We met the very nice folks from Trailquest, who made us feel very fat.” LOL, i don’t think they meant B&R insulted them - i just found it to be a funny quote.

Why were they upset at Otter?

I was Nameless’s supply guy when he did the PCT and have been staying in contact with him on the CDT. As of 9/22/04, he was at Monarch Pass Gift Store & Tramway, near Salida, CO. Once again he’s making impressive time.

As of October 28, Mike was in Pie Town, NM. I should be picking him up in Antelope Wells on November 14.

We picked up Nameless Mike and Goof from the Antelope Wells border crossing on a cold and rainy Sunday, November 14. Both completed the Triple Crown. Congratulations to both.
