I am sure all of us have seen from time to time a request from someone asking if anyone has a recent contact info for a former hiker…I saw the post asking for info on Andy Newman on pct-l and it made me think… Is there a place where folks can go to and register their currant email contact for others to see? I guess its sort of like “Classmates”, from school kind of thing…
i know by looking at the Aldha E address info that thats a pretty good source of info on whos who but its mostly an AT thing… Is there anyplace where all hikers could go to looking for friends and former hikers…?

Yes, the ALDHA Directory would be a good resource; here on TJs, if one keeps a journal, their email addy is listed, and if the Hiker Directory was updated here periodically that would be good too.

You can also check on Whiteblaze.net, even if you don’t have the hiker’s email address, you can send them a private message on the site.

Also, backcountry.net, as you well know :wink: lists members’ email addresses.

If all else fails, word of mouth, post a message here, or post a thread on other sites.

There is a hiker directory link right on this site. Look at the very top of page above TRAIL FORUMS and next to Trail Journals. Hikers register and update themselves.
