National Park gun carry

I think it about time we freedom loving Americans can now carry a firearm in National Parks. Theres far too much crime in our parks and not to mention aggressive bears stealing food and attacking innocent hikers. Sometimes people ask for it when it comes to the bears but I can say theres no excuse for 2 legged predators preying on innocent folks that want to enjoy the Park. Its a good feeling to have to be able to now venture into the backcountry Parks and carry protection. Score one for freedom!

I'm surprised the freedon taking Democrats in power allowed it. I'm glad too that we can protect ourselves. Lets get real.........cops cant be everywhere. Its time people are more self reliant.

There are many ultra-light handguns on the market now. So dont be discouraged by weight. I know of polymer .30 caliber pistols weighing less than 6 oz and many revolvers less than 12 oz. I came across several Rangers and while talking to them they never noticed I was packing in my front pocket.

If your so paranoid that you think someone or something is going to get you, that you need a gun, then it's a good chance you should not be hiking.Stay home, watch the NRA TV station.Don't forget:SUPPORT YOUR RIGHT TO ARM BEARS.

Been hiking the National Parks for 32 years and have never carried a weapon. Never needed a weapon and it doesn't take to many smarts to outwit the "man eating" bears. The only people I have met in the last 32 years carrying weapons in the parks are poachers. Maybe the bears should be allowed to carry in order to give them a chance against the poachers. Approaching people on horseback with a Weatherby 300 Magnum and a pack mule is not my idea of being in the wilderness. The bad news is the morons will show up in force to "protect the wilderness" and protect us weak people, who walk many days 15-20 miles, from killer deer and murderous bears. I have lost so many of my hiking friends to wildlife hunting man. I am not anti-gun but, use them against the bad guys that really want to hurt us.

Each state has it's own laws. Many backpackers carry guns, they just do it quietly. There's no reason to make a stink about it - no matter, if your for them or against them.
