The Arizona Trail Association membership news list is today reporting that the Arizona Trail will receive National Scenic Trail status if President Obama signs the Ominbus Land Bill (HR 146), which passed the House and Senate last week. He is expected to do so. The ATA email claims that the last National Scenic Trail was designated 26 years ago.
Maybe now we can overcome a bit of bureaucratic inertia within the NPS and get a designated route through the Saguaro NP. Yes!
