my partner for thru hiking the AT beginning in GA in march has decided that he is no longer interested in going… I am not going to give up this early because this has long been a passion of mine. Looking for preferably another female to walk with. I know i need that solitary time, but i also know it would be good to have a companion, being a girl travelling alone, my parents are worried sick if i dont have a partner although i am 22 years old. if interested please email me at cabellhodges@yahoo.com

don’t give up your dream because your partner backed out. you will have no problem finding hiking partners once you are on the trail. you can drop partners and pick new ones up quite easily. even if you find solo hiking nice, you’ll hardly ever be alone at nite if you sleep at the shelters. you will constantly be finding people you like to be around and hike with. and if you find your hiking styles don’t agree it’s easier to hike your own hike when you aren’t “attached at the hip”. many people who start out w/hiking partners end up forming larger groups anyway!!! go solo, have a great time and remember predators are looking for easy prey so don’t be it!!!

Sometimes you start with a liked or loved one and either you hate them or the bond is super strong before the trip it is over.

Still go, it wont matter that they aren’t going along you will meet a ton of people.

Good Luck and hate Tenaste Gap for me this year.

Good times

Don’t give up on your dream just because you don’t have a partner. THere is most likely one person on Trail Journals that is leaving the same day you are leaving. Just partner up with them for a week or two with the understanding that at the end of the week or two you can go your seperate ways and hike at your own speed.

Then again, I did that and ended up with a husband, so be careful
