Need some info on the CDT

I’d like to talk to someone who either lives near the CDT or has hiked the CDT. I would like to hike a large section of the CDT and have some questions about certain parts of the trail.

You can start with the coffee-table “official” guide books (one for each state). They’re not the greatest for hiking but they are full of general info like access to trailheads and general routing.

Jim Wolf’s CDTS books are more helpful while hiking: http://www.cdtsociety.org/

Yogi sells a helpful handbook/town guide at: http://www.pcthandbook.com/

Mags has a nice overview at: http://www.pmags.com/joomla/index.php/Backpacking-and-Hiking-documents/cdt_doc.html

I’ve hiked almost the entire stretch from the NM border to Silverton, Co. I also live in Pagosa Springs, the nearest town to Wolf Creek Pass. If any of that area interests you, let me now how I can help.

Complete set of about 1600 gps waypoints and a new book of maps for the entire route through Colorado will be available before the season begins this year from the CDTA. Working on it now.

Post your questions and Ill see if I can help you. I finished my thru-hike on December 15th at the Crazy Cook Monument.
