Neels Gap - Appalachian Trail

Hello all. Please set my mind at rest. I’ve been to the outfitter before but can’t remember if they sell food or not??? I hope to only carry 3 days of food to Neels Gap, then resupply in the outfitter for the trip to Hiawassee. Is this OK? I really can’t remember what they sold, except for hiking gear obviously. Any feedback much appreciated as I fly out tomorrow morning.

Cheers - Ross

you know p-butter, ramen, jerky, mac-n-cheese, liptons, all that good stuff. They also have a glorious fridge with microwave burritos and pizzas and the like -oh and fresh sandwitches and cookies sometimes too. Not to mention the perpetually bulging hiker box. What is all that white powder?

Ross, good luck to you and do soak it in, won't you? I hope to meet you at Trail Days. Cheers, TW:cheers

they leave free cocaine in the hiker box?

just when I thought I was getting my mind wrapped around the hiker mindset, I learn something like this, and have to adjust my notions all over again!

Speaking of Trail Days, do a lot of current thru-hikers try to adjust their hiking schedule so that they make it to this? Looking at the calendar and our start date, I think it’d be possible for me and Moxie to be hiking through there then. Which of course would be pretty cool. I don’t know really what to expect, but I get the impression it’s highly enjoyable.

Come over to my house Ross, the misses will set you right up with some hot food. If that shiftless son of mine hasn’t cleaned out the refrigerator again.

People come from all over for trail days. If you have hiked past Damascus, or not yet hiked as far as Damascus, just get to almost any hostel and ask around. Others are bound to be going to Trail Days and you can catch a ride with them (like I did with Profile and Almanac. Thanks)
