ATC’s website talks about it. Sounds as if there was a major relo around Watagua Lake. Wonder what they did? Tryin to figure out what the relo would of been. Anyway, looks like it added a couple of miles to the total distance. The new total distance from Springer to Katahdin is 2172.6. Grown by 3.8 miles.

Yes, Bob Peoples of Kincora hostel (nice place) was working on that when I came thru there this year. The locals were upset over some property issues and they decided to to do a relo. I think they opened up the new trail sometime the end of May or early June.

I hiked the relo. Reason was some jerk with rottweilers coming after hikers where the trail ran near his property. The new section is not bad hiking, but I wasnt on the old section so cant compare directly. For those who dont know already: The Kincora hostel and its owner, Bob Peoples, is ABSOLUTELY the best place to stop south of Damascus. You could spend WEEKS talking with Bob. He has a ton of great trail stories, lore, etc. I know a lot about many of you regular posters just from talking with him for 2 days, and seeing about a million pictures posted in the hostel. I may return to the hostel just to feel the trail “ambiance” from staying in the place.
