Just saw the thermatest prolite 3 mattress at my local camping store.

I’m thinking about taking it instead of my Z-rest. It weights the same and feels much more confortable.
Has anyone used one yet?

what’s it made of. The website only says .75 inches of “foam.” Is it inflatable? Looks like just another boring foam pad.

It has a inflation valve, so we can assume it’s inflatable

Does it spring leaks as quickly as the old ones?

the specs on Cascade’s site are wrong, the prolite 3 is 1 inch thick and weighs more than the Z-rest. REI has the correct specs on their site. and yes, it is a self-inflater. it replaces their Ultralite model.

BackpackGearTest.org is testing the new Prolites, it looks like a few of the initial reports are available online. they’ll be testing them over the next 6 months, but if you’re starting a thru soon then that’s a bit too long for you to wait! here’s the address for the reports:

(disclaimer: i am a tester for BGT.org, but not on this test series)

I think i’m going to give it a try. If if doesn’t work out, i’ll just switch back to my Z-rest.
