checked TrailJournals totally randomly 2-nite. Had no idea about New Years @ Springer. I will sooo be there with fellow hiker trash! What better place to start the new year? I haven’t seen Springer yet, either. (Va-NY ‘03). I do Ga-Va this April! It will be nice to get acquainted.:girl What i wanna know is…who’s packin’ the beer?:cheers

Next Door. I spent last night @ Springer. There were 10 of us there along with 3 dogs. I guess you could say it was a 3 Dog Night. It was a beautiful weekend. The sunset Sunday night was a bright red. There were over 20 vehicles at the FS 42 parking lot. I guess a lot of people are getting a jump on the New Year celebration. A group of 6 @ Springer were from West Palm Beach, Florida. The 31st sounds like fun. Only rural rednecks would drink beer at an AT shelter on New Year’s eve. The real hikers will have champaign. :wink:

Depending on how late I get home tommorrow, me and a friend may come up and join everone. It will more than likely be after dark before we arrive though. I’d like to hike from Springer to Long Creek Falls and back on the 1st to give my buddy a glimpse of the trail. If it’s real late before I get home, then we may have to miss the get together and instead show up early Thursday morning. If I don’t make it tommorrow night, then everyone have a blast! :cheers
