Newbie Here - Appalachian Trail

Thanks to Baltimore Jack’s post about this forum on another site, I have found this wonderful place! Boy, some of those other forums are way too political for me and quite cantankerous. Seems more civil here.

For the past couple of years, I have been section hiking the AT, mostly in Virginia. I dream everyday of thru-hiking, but for now I try to chip away at the miles on the weekends and do volunteer maintenance on the AT whenever possible. I look forward to reading the 2002 on-line journals and learning from your forum posts.

This is a fantastic place for information. And experiencing some of the things that thru-hikers see. I enjoy it too. Hope you continue the section hikes. I’m doing a bit in Connecticut and north. Share the magic!

I will be doing 3 large section hikes this spring/summer in order to finish up my unfinished 2001 thru-hike. If you have the time, opportunity and the desire I am always looking for a fresh face (and not so fresh) to hike with. Contact me and maybe you could hike a section with me this year. Hammock Hanger

Nice to meet you. I followed your 2001 on-line journal and was quite inspired by your experience. Glad to see that you are back this year to finish up. I wonder if Rooster will be back as well? Yes, I’d love to talk to you about a section hike! I’ll send you an email. So glad to find you guys!
Beautiful day here in Virginia. Sure wish I were hiking, but other commitments are in the way. Tomorrow I plan to hit the trail for the day. Might rain, but that’s okay.
