My granddaughter will be coming off the AT with several others she has met and they plan to re supply in Gatlinburg. Can anyone tell me where the nearest grocery etc. is so I can pass it on to her?

Gatlinburg does have a grocery store outside of town across from the post office. The town's tolley system (bus service) will take them there. Last year, you could get an all day pass for $2. As soon as they get into town is the NOC Outfitters, they may be able to help them get to the grocery store, if nothing else they should know the bus schedule. Down the little side street in front of the NOC Outfitters is the Gran Prix Hotel where many hikers stay for the night.

The major grocery store in town is Food City, the problem is that it is several miles from the "tourist" center of the city. They will need to get to the G'Burg transit center which is on Main St. at the Aquarium. Then they take the BLUE trolley to the store. As Wingin It said, it is directly across the street from the US Post Office and City Hall.

If they can shop in 15+ minutes, they can catch the same trolley back, otherwise the next trolley will be an hour.
I also recommend the Grand Prix Motel, their hiker rate is $30 per nite and they have $1.00 coin laundry.

Thanks Tic Tac & Wingin It for the great info. I'll be sure to pass it on as they should be there tomorrow.
