Hi freebird - nice to meet you on the Ernie Maxwell trail today - another major nudge to get me on the PCT sooner. First question - how about taking dogs on the trail - not in NPs, but other than that?

I enjoyed meeting you as well the other day. I don’t have any info about hiking with dogs on the PCT, but there’s probably a link on the PCTA website & others on this forum might be able to answer your questions.

we hiked 1000 miles w our dog on a sobo pct hike. She came first always. She was the leader of the trip she just didnt know it. Think long and hard about taking ur dog… it can be very hard on them.

I have had to abort trips because of dogs; just remember if you do take your dog(s), the hike becomes about them and their needs.
