We followed the relocated official route from Crazy Cook Monument to Silver City and found more water than expected. Some of the sources we were told were broken (i.e. the windmill at the 2 mile mark) had water. However, they are taking the cows off the range now because there is nothing for them to eat, so many of the wells are being shut off. Two weeks from now, the same sources we used may not be useable. A couple of times we got water from the tank of a shut down well. We only had one cache - at Hwy 9, and that was all we needed - though we carried a lot of water and were feeling really dry even so.
