Nobo in 2011? - Continental Divide Trail

Anyone heading for the Crazy Cook Monument/BLM/CDTA terminus for a Nobo this spring? I live here in New Mexico, hiked the Colorado Trail last year, and I’m starting to plan a spring hike in the bootheel. I’m in Albuquerque, so I may be able to help with transportation/water caching if folks need a hand getting to the trail.

Cheers!

Yes. I have started making plans. I need to hike NM to finish my CDT sections, but would like to just continue north for a complete thruhike this year. Current thought is to start at Crazy Cook end of April or beginning of May.

Birdnut -

That’s great. Let me know how your plans work out - you can send me an e-mail with the mail link next to my message above. I’m still pretty fluid with my plans, but I’d like to get out and at least put in 2-3 weeks from the southern terminus. If you want to pair up on transportation, that might make things easier.

If you’re offering transportation or caching, I’m in. Hopefully 2 of us leaving from Crazy C end of April.

I am thinking of section hiking the CDT begining in mid march but am having trouble location information on how to get to the trailhead. I don’t want to just leave my car there. Can I catch a bus or something?

I too am heading NOBO from Crazy Cook but not until early May.

Shepherd - Mid to late March might work for me. You can send me an e-mail at the mail link at the top. Maybe there’s a chance we can travel together. I’m in Albuquerque, so it is easy to get here.

To get to Crazy Cook call Sam Hughes who will take folks there for a fee. Look online at the CDTA or CDT-L for his number.

Crazy Cook is a great and fun start to the CDT.
