NOC to Newfound Gap

I'm hoping to do a section this spring from the NOC to Newfound Gap. Would prefer to hike northbound, though southbound looks like a net elevation loss and the food and showers trailside at the NOC would be welcome at the end of the hike.

Anyway, any advice on (1) a place I can leave a car in the Gatlinburg vicinity (2) a shuttle service that could take me from my car to the NOC and pick me up at Newfound Gap about a week later and (3) how difficult or impossible it is to get shelter reservations in the GSMNP for mid to late May or early June? Would it be better to wait 'til September?

Thanks!

I would call the Outfitter in Gatlinburg about a place to leave your car and Shuttle service. As long as your hiking Thru the Park you shouldn't have to make reservations at the Shelters on the AT. If there full you can put up a tent by the Shelter. When you register before entering the Park just write Hiking Thru.

If the logistics work for you, The Hike in is near Fontana Dam and you could leave the car there and get shuttled to the start and picked up at the end. I stayed there a few years ago and they dropped me off at Davenport gap to walk back to Fontana. Nice people and knowledgeable about hiking. BTW I went in September, few people and good weather.
