Non-Thru hike, done in segments, anybody?

I’ve got the Co Trail guidebook, but currently I’m just not in enough physical shape to consider a thru hike. However, having climbed some 14ers and many 13ers, I feel I could easily do 2, 3 or 4 segments at a time, camping along the way. I’d like to start as soon as I can, but again, don’t want to do it by myself. Anyone out there wanting to start the CO Trail exploration like this and join me?

If you can do 2-4 segments at a time you can thruhike. Just sayin’.

Sure, it’s hard to begin an end-to-end hike after spending a complete winter sitting behind a desk. However, I find that if I go for a few evening or weekend hikes, I can get my legs back reasonably quickly. After that, just start slowly and you’ll find a noticeable change in your conditioning after about 100 miles. I plan to take it slow until Breck. Probably won’t even make a 15 mi day until some time after passing Breck.

Whatever, take it slow. Thru-hiking is like sex…the first one to finish loses!

I’m with Hardcore. If you’re in shape to do 4 segments, you’re in shape to do the whole thing. You just have to start slowly and leave yourself enough time.
