Just heard of suspected norovirus “outbreak” up in VT and ME along the AT. Anybody know anything more? I did find an article that it was confirmed at a resort in (or is it at) Prince Edward Island.

It can be quite serious.

Aside from spreading the virus by contact, the main problem is serious dehydration for obvious reasons.:frowning:

Heard about this illness hitting hikers hard in July. Concentrated between Gorham, NH and Andover, ME.

I got the virus in Andover, ME and was off the trail for 5 days with severe diahrea, vomitting, and loss of fluids. about 2/3’s of the hikers got it and most were fine after 2 days. I completed the AT on August 17th and don’t know if it is still active on the trail. But people seemed to be getting infected between Gorham, NH and Andover, ME.

I got hit with it today (8-29). Stayed the night in Rangeley and ate at Sarges Pub n Grub. Felt fine this morning and then about an hour later got the worse nausea, vomiting and diahhrea. I was able to hold down a pop tart and drink some water so far today but my energy is zapped. Wash your clothes, sleeping bag and anything you might have eaten or drank out of in the last 24 hours of noticing symptoms. It is highly contagious. It’s hard to say where I got it. Avoided Andover on purpose so I would t get hit, but here I am.
