Island Mama and I hosted a small group for our backpacking courses, and saw a bunch of thru’s having a great time.

We saw a man who was 82 going to maine, and looking in better shape than us! We saw milo, who we met on the PCT, EZ-DOES-IT, whom I met on the AT '01, who is now on his 4th in a row! We also saw about 10 others with city names, so I can’t remember them, sorry.

Every one was looking great. We hung out on Siler Bald and saw the most incredible star display I’ve seen in along time. We did some off-trail stuff, learning navigation, and about 7 thru’s passed by that we could hear -there were a lot!

I’m jealous, but our time will come very soon. Get out there everyone!

Someone asked me in an email about the weather around Hot Springs. Since she did not leave her full email, here’s my reply:

I can’t say exactly, because we weren’t that far south, but I bet it is near the same… chilly at night still in the higher ridges, and I would stay prepared for spring freeze, just in case. Spring is only starting to touch the high hills, and the tiny buds on the trees and the ground seem to grow before your eyes. Overall, the trees are leafless, but that will change greatly in the next 3 weeks. The days are perfect for hiking -not too hot or cold.

have fun,
Wookie

Try www.recreationmaps.gov. They print little, so you have to piece them together. Have fun.

Hey T. Wookie, That would be me asking about the weather and somehow failing to include my e-mail address. I guess I thought it was automatic as on this. Thanks for the information. Will be prepared for anything. Leaving tomorrow.
Cheers…:tongue
