Is anyone familiar with the North Country Trail. I know it’s not complete yet, but has around 2,000 non-continuous miles open to the public. I was just curious.

Nuts, just “shift F” somethinged my whole post. Anyway, the NCT is another attempt at making a long trail by piecing together other trails…which is cool.
I’m in Ohio so I cover the Buckeye Trail. It does seem hard to do one of these unless you have unlimited time. Who has that, yet? I’d be into the American Discovery Trail which is the ultimate long trail of pieces and parks.

Do you have to weigh in on everything? Half your posts don’t make any sense, and you use the the other half as an excuse to throw in useless, self-serving stuff not related to the thread.
Search on “Bush” and “BW” as the author, and see how many posts. TWELVE on 12/1 alone, and 89 in the last month.
Too much of you is not a good thing. I like this forum, but am getting sick of having to skip over your numerous ramblings to see what others have to say. How bout some moderation, and maybe different, non self-aggrandizing hobby?

I prommiss I’ll quit my job and get more sleep so I can answer a post in a fashion that would please only you. Anyone else suggest that I post differently than I do or at all? Trust me, I rather be hiking than putting my now 1 cent in where you can’t please all of the people any of the time, apparently as I’m being told.

I will attempt to dispense less with the inner dialog…but then I wouldn’t be me. So be it.

Did a few days of the NCT in NW Pennsylvania in Sept. 2002, and was favorably impressed. Mostly well maintained/blazed, and it goes through some old growth hemlock groves in a state park. Even came to one shelter (tho the rest were primitive campsites in places near water sources).
I was pleasantly shocked to find almost NO ROCKS. We who think of PA as Rocksylvania because of the A.T. forget there are other parts of the state, at least I did. There were significant stretches of trail which were soft, wide, and where your walk is cushioned by a carpet of fallen pine needles. I plan to do more of the NCT in OH, PA, and NY.
If you do a Google search for “North Country Trail” you’ll find that it’s fairly well along and definitely has a structure not too different from the A.T., tho it follows other pre-existing trails more than a little.

I don’t see a thing wrong with Bushwhack’s posts. He’s having fun and often has good advice. No problems here.

Bushwhack has given this site and those that visit it immeasurable advice and information on backpacking and hiking. He is also one of the most respected persons in the hiking community. His sense of humor adds a great lift to a sometimes very boring “Not Able To Get Out And Hike” day.
Put a sock in it Barkeep.
